Register as a Rider
If you want to register as a rider, call (503) 226-0700 Monday
through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is Ride Connection and
they do the scheduling for the Red Cross. They will set up a file
for you if you aren't registered. You will be asked to leave your
name and telephone number and will be called back. If you do not
have a touch tone phone, stay on the line and a ride coordinator
will answer your call.
A Red Cross representative will return your call after 3 p.m.
the day you leave the message. At that time, we will explain our
policies and procedures, answer any questions and register you
as a rider in the program. The registration process will take
approximately 10 minutes.
Be prepared to give the ride coordinator the following information:
- Name
- Address
- Name of apartment or living center
- Apartment number
- Zip code
- Major cross streets
- Telephone number
- Emergency contact name and phone number
You will also be asked about your health and mobility, including
whether you can walk on your own or if you use a walker, wheelchair,
cane or scooter. In addition, we will need to know if you will
have an escort riding with you.
We will also ask about your race/ethnicity, date of birth, number
of people living in your home and approximate yearly income. This
information is required by our funding sources and will be kept
confidential. You may decline to answer any of these questions.
After you have registered, you are welcome to call Red Cross
to make ride requests at any time. Be sure to let us know if there
are any changes in your physical needs.
Once you are registered, you may request a ride.
