Involvement Opportunities - How to Help Others
Presenters
Offer life saving information to younger students through
programs like ALERT (disaster prevention for grades K-3) or
Longfellow's Whale Tales for grades K-6. Youth can also do disaster
preparedness presentations to peer or adult groups.
Instructor Aides
Assist in teaching health and safety classes.
Disaster Services
Help with providing relief to people who have experienced a
single family or major community disaster.
Transportation
Assist people who are elderly and disabled that are going to
the doctor or grocery store.
Office Assistants
Help with phone calls, filing, data entry and special projects.
Blood Drive Assistants
Register or escort blood donors or work in the canteen.
Leadership Roles
Oregon Trail Chapter is dedicated to the involvement and mentoring
of youth on service committees, special advisory groups, i.e.
diversity and strategic planning, and on the Board of Directors.
Youth may also organize and lead special community service projects.

Blood Drives
Youth can help to meet the critical need for blood in our
community through their participation at school blood drives or
through volunteering at community sites.
