Red Cross volunteers on scene of Lake Oswego fire – the fourth fire in four days

PORTLAND, Ore. – August 23, 2005 – The American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter was paged by the Lake Oswego Fire Department at 1:30 a.m.  regarding an apartment fire on Bryant Road.

Five Red Cross volunteers were on the scene to help with the affected family, a mother and daughter. They provided the two adults with cash assistance for lodging, meals, and clothing, and help them process the emotional impact of this disaster and then guide them toward steps to recovery.

Red Cross volunteers who have been on call since August 19 have also assisted residents in Fairview , Oregon City and Forest Grove.

This support is provided to families affected by fire thanks to the generosity of Oregonians who volunteer and make charitable contributions to the American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter. To help local families recover from fires and be a part of the largest humanitarian network in the world, call (503) 284-1234 or visit www.redcross-pdx.org .
