Red Cross volunteers help Oregon City family after fire destroys their home

PORTLAND, Ore. – August 21, 2005 – The American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter was paged by the Clackamas County Fire Department at 5:45 p.m.  regarding a residential fire on S. Beatie Road in Oregon City.

Three Red Cross volunteers are heading to the scene to meet with the affected family. They will help the two adults and two children process the emotional impact of this disaster and then guide them toward steps to recovery. Immediate assistance typically includes cash assistance for lodging, meals and clothing. If needed, the Red Cross can also provide cash assistance for replacement items such as linens and bedding, as well as addressing any health needs such as prescription refills.

This support is provided to families affected by fire thanks to the generosity of Oregonians who volunteer and make charitable contributions to the American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter.
