Red Cross Volunteers Help Oregon City Residents Recover from Fire
PORTLAND , Ore. – February 25, 2005 – Four American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter volunteers were paged at 5:00 p.m. regarding an apartment fire on Washington Street in Oregon City.
Four adults were affected by the fire. Volunteers are providing cash assistance for lodging, meals, meals, clothing and other immediate needs.
Red Cross volunteers are on call around the clock to support individuals and families immediately after fires destroy their homes. Almost every day in our community, this tragic event impacts local residents.
Once firefighters extinguish the flames, they page Red Cross volunteers to help people with the basics, which include cash and arrangements for food, clothing and a place to sleep. The Red Cross is able to provide these important resources thanks to the generosity of Oregonians who give time and money to support local disaster relief.
To learn how to become a Red Cross volunteer or to make a financial donation, please call (503) 284-1234.
