Red Cross Responds to Two Fires in 24 Hours

PORTLAND, Ore. – August 5, 2003 – Red Cross volunteers were busy Monday night and Tuesday morning providing assistance to individuals affected by residential fires in the Portland area.

At 5:20 p.m. on Monday night, three volunteers arrived on the scene of a house fire on SE Taylor. Vouchers for meals, groceries and other immediate needs were provided for two individuals.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, eight volunteers rushed to assist residents at an apartment complex located on SW Allen. Three families were provided vouchers for lodging, meals and other immediate needs.

This assistance is offered at no charge to Red Cross disaster clients, who are served thanks to the generosity of Oregonians supporting the Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross.
