Red Cross Responds to Two Fires
in 24 Hours
PORTLAND, Ore. – August 5, 2003 – Red Cross volunteers
were busy Monday night and Tuesday morning providing assistance
to individuals affected by residential fires in the Portland area.
At 5:20 p.m. on Monday night, three volunteers arrived on the
scene of a house fire on SE Taylor. Vouchers for meals, groceries
and other immediate needs were provided for two individuals.
At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, eight volunteers rushed
to assist residents at an apartment complex located on SW Allen.
Three families were provided vouchers for lodging, meals and other
immediate needs.
This assistance is offered at no charge to Red Cross disaster
clients, who are served thanks to the generosity of Oregonians
supporting the Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross.
