JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: First Aid/CPR Instructor
Reports to: Instructor Supervisor
Status: Non-exempt
Basic Function: Instruct American Red Cross Health, Safety, Youth and Community Services (HSYCS) courses at the Red Cross Training Center, at businesses and for organizations and community groups within the Chapter service area as directed.
Essential Functions:
- Instruct American Red Cross HSYCS courses in accordance with National and Oregon Trail Chapter guidelines, standards and customer expectations.
- Contact assigned sites a minimum of three workdays prior to the class date to confirm class information.
- Transport all course equipment and materials, following HSYCS supply room procedures.
- Complete and return all required course paperwork and supplies within 72 hours or sooner if requested.
- Meet minimum continuing education requirements of two in-service workshops per year and participate in additional meetings and workshops as requested.
- Promote and represent the mission and values of the American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter to all class participants and customers. Support sale of First Aid Safety products to class participants.
- Participate as a team member of HSYCS to achieve departmental training goals.
- Coordinate with other HSYCS staff to ensure successful delivery of classes to customers both internal and external.

Qualifications:
(The minimum level of education and experience required to perform the job and minimum competencies required for job performance.)
- Combination of education, experience, and training that indicate skills and abilities in instruction of HSYCS safety courses.
- Must maintain at a minimum current certification as First Aid/CPR and AED Instructor.
- Possess excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
Mental / Physical Demands:
- Ability to transport training equipment.
- Must be able to regularly lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 40 lbs. from the supply room to vehicle and from vehicle to course site with varying accessibility.
- Meet the physical requirements of course instruction that may include CPR skill demonstration.
- Must be able to follow specific detailed instructions on course delivery.
- Ability to work independently and as an effective team member.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks.
