Current Volunteer Opportunities — Existing Emergency Services Volunteers

General Program Support | Projects | Leadership Positions

General Program Support — Ongoing

Staffing always needs assistance with database maintenance. If you have computer skills/experience and at least a one-half day to spare, click here to let staffing know when you can come in to help.

Training.

  • Help out with class preparation; collate materials, recruit instructors and students. Contact Kelly Scott for details.
  • Data-Entry. Enter classes in the Learning Management System. Some training required so plan to make a longer term commitment. Contact Kelly Scott for details.
  • Instructor Coordinator. Recruit existing instructors for specific classes, seek out and coordinate training for new instructors from existing volunteer ranks. Contact Kelly Scott for details.

Projects/Events

August 16 (Saturday) Tualatin Big Truck Day

  • All day at Tualatin Parks and Recreation, 9985 SW 125th Ave, Tualatin
  • Two EKRV drivers and a helper or two needed to display EKRV and distribute Red Cross materials. Breakfast and lunch provided by the event hosts.
  • Report to the event site between 8 and 9am
  • Approximate duration 8-10 hours
  • Please sign up here if you are available to assist with this event.
  • Response requested by the end of the day Wednesday, 8/13.

September 13 (Saturday) 2008 NW Emergency Response Team Rodeo

  • Location: Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue training center, Sherwood
  • Workers Needed-Team 1: Canteening. 7am to 5pm
    • One EKRV Driver
    • One EKRV Operator
    • Load and drive EKRV from chapter to Event. Position vehicle by 7:45 am. Serve coffee, beverages and snacks to approximately 200 attendees. Deliver remaining lunches (supplied by vendor) to Blanchet House at NE 3rd & Glisan at approximately 4pm. Return vehicle to chapter and clean items.
    • Sign Up for Team 1
  • Workers Needed-Team 2: Demonstrations. 6am to 5pm
    • Authorized Yukon Driver with towing
    • Passenger helper
    • Tow trailer from chapter to event. Position vehicle by 7:30 am. Unload and set up cots, blankets, tables, shelter kits. Provide 20-minute demonstrations of a shelter operation every 30-minutes. Repeat demonstration 10 times. Reload trailer and tow back to the chapter.
    • Sign Up for Team 2
  • Positions Filled. Workers Needed-Team 3: Patient Extrication Instructors. 7am to 4pm
    • 4 Extrication Instructors
    • Provide Skill Drill instruction with removing patients from obstructed areas such as a crashed bus, airplane or other situation created by the Rodeo Design Team. Scheduling coordinated by Health and Safety directly with Hillsboro Emergency Manager.
